The AI evaluation gives you a band estimate within minutes. It is not an IELTS result and it is not a human examiner's judgement. This page explains exactly how it is produced and where it is least reliable, so you can decide whether it is the right product for you.

This policy is a working draft pending Daniel's final review.
Nothing on this site is an official IELTS band. Only IELTS test centres run by the British Council, IDP IELTS and Cambridge University Press & Assessment can issue one. We are an independent preparation service with no affiliation to any of them.
Treat the number as an indication of roughly where your speaking sits today, useful for deciding whether you are ready to book the real test and what to work on first. Do not submit it anywhere as evidence of your English level, because no institution will accept it.
Be aware of this before you buy. The automated assessment works from the text of what you said, not from the sound of it. That means the pronunciation band is inferred rather than heard: it reflects how clearly your speech could be transcribed and how your delivery reads on the page, not an examiner listening to your individual sounds, stress and intonation.
If pronunciation is the thing you most need judged, the AI product is not the right one. A human evaluation, where Daniel listens to your recording, is the honest answer for that criterion.
Human evaluation is available as a separate product. Daniel James, a former IELTS Speaking Examiner, listens to your recording and applies the band descriptors himself. The band score product gives you his bands per criterion; the written package adds a long-form report with improvement guidance for each criterion.
A human evaluation is still one examiner's professional judgement rather than an official IELTS result, and examiners at the real test may score you differently.
We will not re-run an AI evaluation because you disagree with the number. The estimate is what the model produced from your recording, and running it again on the same recording is not a second opinion.
We will act where something failed on our side: a recording that did not capture, a transcript that is obviously not what you said, or a result that never arrived. Our refund policy covers those cases. Write to support@takeieltstest.com, which is a placeholder address pending confirmation, with your result link.
