Terms of Service

These terms explain what you get when you use TakeIELTSTest.com, what we ask of you, and the limits of what we can promise. Please read them before you buy anything.

Last updated: 15 Sept 2026

This policy is a working draft pending Daniel's final review.

Who we are

TakeIELTSTest.com is an IELTS Speaking practice and evaluation service. Human evaluation is carried out personally by Daniel James, a former IELTS Speaking Examiner (2017 to 2024). He is the only examiner on the service, so a human evaluation is his work and nobody else's.

Registered legal entity: [To confirm with Daniel: registered legal entity]. Registered address: [To confirm with Daniel: registered address].

What we provide

You first take a free speaking simulation. It runs through an introduction, Part 1, Part 2 with a cue card, and Part 3, the same shape as the IELTS Speaking test. Your answers are recorded and transcribed so they can be evaluated. After the simulation you can buy one of the following.

  • AI Evaluation: an automated band estimate with a per criterion breakdown, produced by a language model reading your transcript against the IELTS band descriptors. It is delivered in minutes.
  • Human Band Score: Daniel listens to your recording and gives you an overall band and a band for each of the four criteria.
  • Band Score plus Written Feedback: the same human band score with written comments on what to fix and what to keep doing.
  • Live Assessment Session: a scheduled one to one video session with Daniel. Scheduling is handled through Calendly and the session runs on the video link the booking confirmation gives you.

Scores are estimates, not official IELTS results

This is important, so it is stated plainly. Nothing on this site is an official IELTS result. We are not IELTS, the British Council, IDP or Cambridge Assessment English, and we are not affiliated with them or endorsed by them. Only a real IELTS test centre can issue an official band score.

Every score we give you, AI or human, is a preparation estimate based on one practice performance. A real test day score can land higher or lower. The AI estimate in particular is produced by an automated model and can be wrong, especially where your audio is quiet, clipped or heavily accented. Treat all of it as feedback for your preparation, not as a prediction and not as a result you can present to anyone.

We do not guarantee any score, any band improvement, or that our estimate will match your official result.

Your account

  • You need to give a real email address you control, and you need to verify it before you can use paid features.
  • One account per person. Keep your password to yourself. Anything done from your account is treated as done by you.
  • You must be 16 or over to hold an account. If you are under 18, please have a parent or guardian agree to these terms with you.
  • Tell us straight away if you think somebody else has got into your account.

Acceptable use

When you use the service, please do not:

  • Record anyone other than yourself, or submit audio you do not have the right to submit.
  • Submit someone else's performance as your own, or use the service to obtain a score on behalf of another person.
  • Upload anything unlawful, abusive or deliberately offensive in your recordings or in messages to us.
  • Resell, rebroadcast or republish our questions, cue cards, feedback or reports as your own material.
  • Try to break, overload, scrape or reverse engineer the service, or get at data that is not yours.

Payment

Payments are taken by Stripe. Prices are shown before you pay and include any tax where it applies. We never see or store your full card details. Refunds and cancellations are covered by our refund policy.

Suspension

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, in particular where somebody submits another person's performance or abuses the service. If we close your account for that reason, unused paid evaluations are still refundable under our refund policy unless the payment itself was fraudulent.

Availability

We aim to keep the service up but we do not promise it will be available without interruption. Parts of it depend on third parties (payment, scheduling, email, speech and language models) and those can fail independently of us. Where a technical failure stops you getting something you paid for, our refund policy sets out what happens next.

Limitation of liability

We are responsible for delivering the product you bought. We are not responsible for decisions you or anyone else makes on the strength of a practice estimate, including visa, immigration, university, employment or test booking decisions.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim connected to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss such as lost opportunities, lost earnings, exam fees or application fees.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page tells you when they last changed. If a change materially affects something you have already paid for, the terms that applied at the time of your purchase are the ones that count.

Governing law

[To confirm with Daniel: governing law and jurisdiction]. Until that is confirmed, no particular jurisdiction is claimed on this page and your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
